The POSTECH Department of Biomedical Engineering (Science and Technology) in Pohang, Korea, together with the Korea Biomedical Institute for Global Health Research and Technology (K-BIGHEART), invites applications for five (5) tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, to begin on March 1, 2027, or on a mutually agreeable date. POSTECH Biomedical Engineering (Science and Technology) is actively expanding its scope across a broad range of biomedical engineering research and education, building on more than 15 years of accumulated expertise in convergence science and engineering. K-BIGHEART has a vision to educate and cultivate students' creativity and to develop biomedical integrated circuits for global healthcare and preventive precision medicine.
This search welcomes applications in areas including but not limited to: (1) Biomedical System-on-a-Chip (SoC) and Integrated Biomedical Systems, (2) Biochips and Microfluidics for Precision Medicine, (3) Neuroscience and Neurotechnology, (4) Organoid Engineering and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), and (5) Biomedical Artificial Intelligence (AI). Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, medical science, or a related science or engineering field by the start of employment and must demonstrate a strong record of research achievement in biomedical engineering science and technology. While this search is targeted at the assistant professor level, candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered for a higher-rank, senior faculty appointment commensurate with experience. The department and institute pursue rigorous basic science with practical applications to solve societal problems by fostering critical thinking, real observation, and ethical responsibility in science to improve humanity. Faculty responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in biomedical engineering and related subjects, developing course materials, conducting original scholarly research, and advising, supervising, training, and mentoring students and junior researchers. Candidates should be prepared to teach core courses within our biomedical engineering and science curriculum.
